形態・特徴
全長11cm程度。体は茶色で、木の表面に似た模様をしている。腹部は白く、尾が長い。
くちばしが細長く湾曲していることも特徴。雌雄同色。コガラやヒガラ等のカラ類と群れを作り移動していることが多い。
生息地・分布

日本では北海道から九州までの、亜高山帯を中心に、留鳥として生息している。
冬は標高が低い場所に移動する。
