Pipeline Roadは大体3kmぐらい?の林道。前半部分と後半部分で鳥の種類が大分変わるので、最低でも2日に分けて探鳥することをオススメしたい。車で来た場合、Pipeline roadの入口付近や、もっと手前の道に駐車して歩いて探鳥するのが基本のよう(他のバーダーもそうしてた)。Pipelineroadを車で進む場合、SUVであることが必須。 前半部分では主にManakin,Tanager,Warbler,Honeycreeper, Motmotなどが姿を見せてくれる。また前半部分にはAmmo dump pondsという池があり、水鳥も見られる(こちらは別FieldNoteで記載)。 後半部分ではPuffbird,Trogon,Kingfisher,Antbird,Antshrikeなどが多く見られる。後半部分にはRainforest Discovery Centerがあり、30ドル払うことで入場できるトレッキングロードで探鳥できる。また、ハチドリが山ほど見られるフィーダー付きの施設も含まれている(こちらも別フィールドノートで記載) Pipeline roadで探鳥する場合、上記で示したAmmo dump pondsとDiscovery Centerも一緒に探鳥するとたくさんの種類が見られてよいと思う。
